We want to help you develop into the very best you can be. That is why we are committed to helping you build your skills and knowledge at every stage of your career journey and ensuring an holistic approach to your learning experience.
You can provide leading edge social care services to people in our community thanks to our continuous training, learning and development structures.
Our varied corporate learning programme is delivered using a blend of approaches - workshops, elearn modules, ebooks and eCareers assessment tools. The programme typically includes Corporate Induction, personal development (including Apprenticeship qualifications) and management development. All interventions are designed to ensure you have the right skills and capabilities to enable your development and growth as a practitioner and achievement of the council’s vision and outcomes for Children Services.
We are the lead organisation in the West London Social Work Teaching Partnership and helped establish the Forensic Mental Health Social Work Capabilities Framework.
To help ensure our practitioners stay with us to build their careers, we invest continuously in learning programmes. These include motivational interviewing, and relational and strength-based approaches. All provide a sound evidence-based theory, framework and model for modern practice.
Our Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) programme is a prime example of how we ensure new social workers get the best support possible. Under it we offer reflective workshops, additional supported supervision sessions and relevant cross-borough training in your first year of employment.
In addition, we have developed a career progression scheme that provides opportunities to progress to more senior roles once you have met specific milestones.
Finally, you can develop your knowledge and skills in areas of individual specialist interest through a variety of learning programmes.
These could include opportunities to train for positions in social work education or management.
